Frequently Asked Questions

Is StudyAI really free?

+

Yes, completely free. No credit card, no hidden fees, no subscription. StudyAI is a student project built to help other students study better. Both the web app and Android app are 100% free to use.

What file types does StudyAI support?

+

StudyAI supports PDF, TXT and Markdown (.md) files. For best results, use text-based PDFs (typed documents). Scanned PDFs or image-based PDFs won't work as well since the AI needs actual text to read.

How accurate are the AI summaries and quizzes?

+

Very accurate for text-based documents. The AI reads your actual notes and generates questions based on the content. Powered by Google's Gemini 1.5 Flash model. Always review AI-generated content — for critical exams, use it as a study aid alongside your own understanding.

Is my data private?

+

Your data is stored securely in Firebase with authentication. Only you can see your sessions and history. Note content sent to the AI is processed by Google's Gemini API — don't upload sensitive personal information.

Can I use StudyAI without creating an account?

+

Yes! You can use the web app to generate summaries and quizzes without signing up. However, your sessions won't be saved and you won't have access to the progress dashboard or history. Sign up (free) to unlock those features.

How do I download the Android app?

+

Click the Download APK button on the homepage or the download page. Transfer the APK file to your Android phone and install it (you may need to enable "Install from unknown sources" in your phone settings). The app uses the same account as the web version.

Does the Android app work on iOS (iPhone)?

+

Currently StudyAI Android is only available as an APK for Android phones. For iPhone users, the web app works great in Safari on mobile. An iOS version may come in the future.

How many questions can I generate per quiz?

+

You can choose between 5 and 30 questions per quiz in increments of 5. The slider and quick-select chips on the study screen let you pick your preferred number before generating.

My PDF is not being read correctly — what should I do?

+

If your PDF appears to be scanned or image-based, the text extraction may fail. The best workaround is to copy your notes into a .txt file and upload that instead. Text files always work perfectly.

Can I use StudyAI for any subject?

+

Absolutely. StudyAI works for any subject — biology, history, computer science, business, law, engineering, languages — as long as you have text-based notes to upload. The AI adapts to the content you provide.
